Tales from the Rural Patrol

Saturday, Oct. 29
*James Byron Lawson, Jr. was wanted by Florence Police Department for probation violation for second-degree theft. Lawson was apprehended near milepost (MP) 5 of West Side Road at 11:18 a.m., then cited to appear in lieu of arrest at Florence Municipal Court Nov. 29.
*Sarah Ivory Jaentsch was taken into custody at 3:21 p.m. near the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. Jaentsch was detained in Josephine County Jail (JCJ) for a felony indictment warrant from Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO). Her charges include second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree theft.

Sunday, Oct. 30
*Edward McWest was arrested for attempted second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon at 1:19 p.m. after an incident in the 100 block of Hogue Drive. McWest was detained in JCJ.
*Hunters parked a gold-colored 1999 Infinity QX4 near Sucker Creek Trailhead, but it was not there at 6:14 p.m. Oct. 30. Also missing was a Yakima roof box filled with emergency equipment, including shovel, ax, tow strap, winter tire chains, camp chairs, binoculars, cassette tapes, and phone chargers.

Monday, Oct. 31
*At 6:32 p.m., a ghoul in a gray cap grabbed an older iPad from a vehicle parked near Jubilee Park. The tablet was decorated with a pumpkin and bone sticker.

Tuesday, Nov. 1
*Fraud was suspected after five iPhones were delivered to residents in the 500 block of Lakeshore Drive at 10:48 a.m.
*On Oct. 31 at 5 p.m., a disgruntled guy threatened folks at Illinois Valley Safe House Alliance (IVSHA) because they helped his relative. He was warned for telephonic harassment, admonished for drinking beer in public and trespassed indefinitely from IVSHA.
*A fugitive parked in a stranger’s driveway in the 12100 block of Redwood Hwy. at 4:30 a.m. When JCSO investigated, they found that Ralph Edward Herr had a felony warrant from Jackson County for failure to appear (FTA) for possession of controlled substance (PCS) meth. Lebanon Justice Court charged Herr with FTA for second-degree contempt. Herr was detained in JCJ.

Wednesday, Nov. 2
*A blue 1986 Ford F350 truck with a black flatbed went missing from Rough and Ready Lumber Mill overnight. A report was filed for unauthorized use of vehicle (UUV) and trespass.
*A horse trailer full of personal belongings was taken from the 23900 block of Redwood Hwy., according to a report at 1:11 p.m. Missing items include a Honda moped, Honda motor, bicycles and clothing.
*A two-inch Keene gold dredge was recovered in woods near Swinging Bridge Illinois River Trailhead at 3:26 p.m. A report was filed for found property.
*An individual was detained in JCJ following an incident at 6:01 p.m. at Madrone Motel. Charges include felony domestic violence (DV) strangulation, first-degree theft, DV harassment and restraining order violation (ROV) DV harassment.

Thursday, Nov. 3
*Jessica Eliena Whipple had a misdemeanor warrant from Oregon State Police (OSP) for FTA for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII). Whipple was arrested at 3:16 p.m. in the 3700 block of Holland Loop, then cited and released to appear at Josephine County Circuit Court (JCCC) Nov. 30.

Friday, Nov. 4
*The gas tank was drilled from a 2014 Dodge Caravan that was parked near Illinois Valley Family Coalition, according to a report Nov. 3. Vandalism may have occurred between Friday, Oct. 28 and Tuesday, Nov. 2.
*Floyd Greenlee was taken into custody near the 200 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 1:19 p.m. Greenlee was detained in JCJ for second-degree theft, theft of mislaid property and probation violation detainer.
*A fellow in the 4300 block of Rockydale Road claimed that he was bleeding and didn’t think he had any teeth left after he was punched at 5:40 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 5
*Two young boys panicked and dropped evidence when witnesses caught them un-delivering mail in the 200 block of Airport Drive at 2:31 p.m. They hopped into a newer red Jeep Cherokee or Wrangler.
*A very tan, gray-haired gal in purple sweatpants and a red quilted jacket had a meltdown at Dollar General in the 25600 block of Redwood Hwy. at 4:28 p.m. She won’t be shopping there any time soon.
