The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man who went missing after taking a hike during a rafting trip in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness.
Gabriel Vaughn, 25, was last seen around 4:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, during a rafting trip near the Green Wall Rapid on the Illinois River.
Vaughn was wearing a blue dry suit with a helmet and a life jacket.
He left his group to go hiking in the woods with plans to hike out from the location towards the Chetco drainage.
Vaughn is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 160 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes.
Weather is preventing the U.S. Coast Guard from flying a helicopter for the search.
