Jerrod Robert Bruner,

affectionately known by many as “Bone,” was born Nov. 6, 1982, in Monroe, Wash. and passed away Aug. 31, 2025, when the boat he was on capsized outside of Gold Beach, Ore. Despite extensive search efforts by the Coast Guard, Curry County Sheriffs Department and local fishermen, Jerrod’s body has not been recovered.
Jerrod graduated from Illinois Valley High School in 2001. He went on to build a life centered on love, family, and community. For the past 14 years, he was married to his best friend and the love of his life, Chelsea Bruner. Together they raised two beautiful children, Ryleigh (12) and Luke (10), who were the light of his life.
Jerrod was deeply involved in his community. He served as President of the Illinois Valley Youth Wrestling Club, where he coached and helped with countless fundraising efforts. His passion for mentoring youth extended to his role as a track coach at Lorna Byrne Middle School. Through his leadership and encouragement, Jerrod made a lasting impact on many young athletes and their families.
An avid outdoorsman, Jerrod loved hunting, fishing, and riding side-by-sides. He especially cherished summers spent in Alaska, fishing and creating memories with family and friends. He lived life to the fullest, with laughter, loyalty, and love at the heart of everything he did.
Jerrod is survived by his loving wife, Chelsea; their children, Ryleigh and Luke; his parents, Bob and Janice Bruner; and his siblings, Christina Carroll, Maria Huling, Travis Bruner, Ryan Bruner, and Ryan Lewis.
