A jaguar made a break from its crate at Great Cats World Park June 30, causing chaos with social media users.
Two OSP troupers, Deputy Geiger of the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office and one AMR ambulance were stationed outside of the park. Geiger stated that the cat was inside the park’s fence and that park staff were working to detain the cat.
According to park owner Greg Wagner, the adolescent Jaguar was being transported when the crate was inadvertently opened.
“The cat got out but ran into an enclosed area which enabled staff to contain it.” Wagner said.
He continued with, “We had it contained within minutes but we had to wait for the vet to arrive with the medicine required to tranquilize, the animal then wait for it to kick in.”
