Life in the Valley of Riches

by Dan Mancuso,

Things have been busy around here getting everyone set up in the system but we are making progress.
In addition to the change in delivery of the news, we are having some staffing changes.
Stacy is leaving to take a full time job in home health care, she has been my right hand for the past few years, she will be missed.
As many of you may already know, Laura and I are no longer together as a couple. She also has left the Illinois Valley News to pursue full time employment with Illinois Valley Living Solutions as executive director.
2025 has been a dark time for me so far. Losing my wife after 14 years together and going digital have taken a toll on me mentally.
I’m beginning to get my head to a place where I can focus on the task at hand, the news.
I really need local writers. The state coverage I have been running does affect the residents of the Valley, Its not what I want to bring to you on these pages.
If you have an event that I cannot cover, feel free to submit a brief summary to me including photos.
I have a few other interesting things in the works but until its finalized I’ll hold my tongue. No, IVN isn’t sold, but remember it is for sale. If you are interested give me a call and we can talk.
If I find a buyer, I must be comfortable that they will understand the importance of community journalism or I won’t sell it to them.
With the “paper” now in the modern digital era someone younger than I is likely to grow the product to its fullest potential. Believe it or not, I am still anti web.
Summer is here and the heat is on its way. Do the best you can to make your home safe from fire. Contact the Illinois Valley Fire District for brochures, or their website for videos that can guide you an the process.
Thank you for picking up this week’s pap .. Uh, opening up this week’s .pdf
I really appreciate all of you, I cannot thank you enough for the support during this transition.
