IVHS took home 3, 1st place medals at state track meet

Jessame Pope delivered a stunning performance at the OSAA State Track and Field 2A Championships, claiming first in both the Triple Jump and Long Jump and shattering two long-standing records previously held by Kena Page since 1998 at IV. Pope’s leap of 37’1.0” in the triple jump and 17’2.0” in the long jump etched her name in the record books. In addition, Pope also showcased her versatility, finishing a respectable 6th place in the 300M hurdles. Pope’s success was part of a larger team effort with multiple athletes placing in the top spots.


Servando Vargas dominated the Triple Jump with a winning jump of 41’10.5”, while Grit Charitram took first in the High Jump with a height of 6’5.5” and also second in the Long Jump with 21’0”.
Shilo Farnsworth took third in both the 300m Hurdles and the 110M Hurdles.
Cameron Shinault secured seventh in the Shot Put with a throw of 41’5.25”.

Matt Ellis earned 3rd place in the Discus with a throw of 128’0”. Jacob Hinds followed closely, taking 7th place in the Discus with a distance of 118’7”. Tanner Brazil showcased his javelin skills, achieving 3rd place with a throw of 162’ 11”. Preston Arroyo secured 7th place in the High Jump with a height of 5’ 11.5”, and George Kouspov finished 7th in the Long Jump with a jump of 19’8.25”. The combined efforts of these talented athletes propelled the Boys Track and Field team to a commendable 2nd place finish overall in the OSAA State Track and Field 2A Championships, marking a significant achievement for the school and community. The team’s exceptional performance reflects their hard work, dedication, and the unwavering support of their coaches and families.
