Dear Editor,
As a concerned citizen, a senior, and a veteran who proudly served aboard a U.S. submarine, I feel compelled to raise a question that should concern every American, regardless of party.
Who was at the helm?
In recent weeks, many have questioned President Biden’s cognitive ability based on his public appearances and lack of direct interaction with the press. This isn’t a partisan critique—it’s a concern grounded in reality and responsibility.
One aspect that troubles me deeply is the use of the autopen for signing official documents. I want to know: Who authorized it? If President Biden himself authorized its use, surely he would remember doing so. But if he does not remember authorizing it, what then? And if he never authorized it to begin with, who did?
Even more disturbing is the fact that there is no clear notation on the documents themselves indicating that an autopen was used. That seems like a fundamental flaw in transparency. Shouldn’t the American public have the right to know when a machine has signed a law, a pardon, or a proclamation in place of their elected leader?
I’m not asking rhetorical questions. I’m asking real ones. If the President was not in full command at the time these documents were signed, someone else must have been. And if so, who is pushing the button—literally or figuratively?
We’re owed an honest answer.
Sincerely,
Forster Cooke
