Tales from the Rural Patrol

(Editor’s note: Factual information for ‘Tales’ is provided by the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office. All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.)

April 18
*At Redwood Hwy. and Mountain View Pl., Gregory Gard, 56, was given a citation for driving without a license and warned for speeding.
*Someone called 911 to report a suspected drunk driver after they witnessed someone crash into their yard in the 800 block of Schroeder Lane. The husband of the caller reporting went to check on the driver who rolled his car on his lawn. The driver, James Fisher, 57, admitted to being intoxicated, and asked the resident not to call authorities. Fisher attempted to walk away from the scene when the law came around, but was ultimately booked into the county jail on duii, reckless driving, and driving without an operator’s permit charges.
*Beverly Angers, 41, was arrested for failing to appear on a duii charge.
*Michael Carrero, 39, was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender, and failing to appear on that charge. In the 7800 block of Old Redwood Hwy., Carrero was detained on warrants from Oregon State Police on a parole violation pertaining to unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and a warrant from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office on charges of FTA for failing to register as a sex offender. Creepy and gross!
*A homeowner in the 2700 block of Caves Highway heard banging sounds, and upon further investigation found Shannon Petersen, 52, breaking into their house. The residents had her pinned down to the ground until deputies arrived. Petersen was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and menacing.

April 19
*A vehicle was towed after an uninsured driver was speeding and, shockingly enough, driving uninsured in the 6700 block of Monument Drive. The name of this person was mercifully left out of this report.
*A couple of quad enthusiasts were pulled over in the 500 block of Sunny Valley Loop Rd. for off-roading it. They were warned about having no license and released.
*In an undisclosed location, a motorist was cited for driving while suspended. They got caught ridin’ dirty, but the sandwich, (which the police thought was a cellphone in the suspect’s hand) was not charged, but later eaten.

April 20
*At Round Prairie Rd. and Redwood Hwy., a driver was cited for having no operator’s permit after being pulled over for speeding.
*Another speeder, Shyla Ann Munson, 28, wasn’t so lucky when they were apprehended and arrested for theft on a Jackson County warrant.
*Israel Morales, 28, was detained on DUII and reckless driving charges at Willow Ln. and Kellenback Avenue.
*A woman was heard screaming that her husband was hurting her in the background of a 911 call made from the 2600 block of Demaray Drive. Albert Martinez, 36, was thrown into the slammer on charges of strangulation, assault, and interfering with a police report.

April 21
*James Miller, 63, was taken to jail for failing to appear on DUII and criminal DWS charges on a Douglas County warrant.

*Hank Sowell, 41, was apprehended at Redwood Hwy. and Old Redwood Hwy. and taken to the JoCo jail for a previous dws warrant from Jackson County for violating a release condition.
April 22
*A DWS citation was issued at Redwood Hwy. and Briggs Valley Road.

*A dog on a neighbor’s property was reported in the 1900 block of Fruitdale Dr. and the owner was issued a K9 nuisance citation.
*At Redwood Hwy. and Old Redwood Hwy. Hank Sowell was arrested for DWS which is a violation of his release condition per a Jackson County warrant.

April 22
*A dws citation was given to a driver at Redwood Hwy. and Briggs Valley Road.
*Clint Robertson, 61, was arrested on a probation detainer from a GPPD warrant for fta on meth possession charges and fta for a warrant from Medford Police for assault, a probation violation.
*Jason Lanyon, 47, was arrested at the JoCo jail for a Wisconsin warrant for disorderly conduct and parole violation on charges of child neglect.

April 24
*A citation was given to Jackie Clemons, 38, at SE M St. and SE 8th street.
*In the 19100 block of Redwood Hwy. a citation was given for careless driving.
*Another pooch was on the loose in the 1400 block of Brookside Blvd. and the owner was given a citation.
*River Lucas Timm, 29, was arrested after hitting his father in the chest with a plastic sword over an argument about chores. Apparently, the adult child’s behavior has been escalating lately, and he was charged with domestic violence, harassment and resisting arrest at the residence in the 900 block of Pleasant Valley Road. Things can’t be pleasant when a grown man assaults his father with a toy because he couldn’t be bothered to take out the trash.
*A complaint of a trailer left overnight and blocking the road in the 5700 block of Cloverlawn Dr. led to a citation for John Inch, 42, stemming from a warrant from the Marion County Sherriff’s Office for fta on hit and run charges. Inch should have inched in a few more inches before parking his trailer.

April 25
*At Monument Dr. and Timber Ln. John Wilson was cited for dws and warned for speeding.
*At Foothill Blvd. and Averill Dr. Keagan Robison, 39 was cited for speeding and driving while suspended. There seems to be a trend with suspended drivers foolishly speeding around here.
*A two-vehicle accident on Lonnon Rd. was handled in a civil matter after one driver rear-ended the other. Jose Espinosa, 28, was however cited for driving while suspended.
*In the 4600 block of Reeves Creek Rd. a man was screaming that he was going to put a bullet through a house. Ronald Ray Verdine, 70, was arrested for trespassing and menacing, and was served a stalking order,
*In the 5000 block of Monument Dr., yet another suspended driver disobeyed traffic laws. Jamie Moye, 42, ran a red light and was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device and, wait for it, driving while suspended!

April 26

*A speeding ticket was given to Abigail Cubit, 27, at New Hope Rd. and Humphrey Lane.
*At New Hope Rd. and Sierra Lodge Dr. Cory Shires, 36, also got a speeding ticket.
*It was a bad day to break the law on New Hope Rd. as yet another driver near Moss Ln. received a speeding ticket. Keith King, 67, was the final recipient of a citation on that fateful day.
