April 22
The Illinois Valley Community Choir, directed by Kate Campbell, invites you to an evening of choral music at their Spring Concert, on EARTH DAY Tuesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. at the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Cave Junction. Step back in time and groove to the classics during this performance featuring a variety of songs ranging from Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Bob Marley, & more. Audience participation is encouraged-get ready to sing the night away to the unforgettable music of the 60s, 70s, and beyond. Families & children of all ages are welcome! A reception will follow the performance with food and light refreshments available. Admission is FREE, but donations are greatly appreciated. The Church is located at 200 W. Watkins St. Cave Junction, OR 97523.

** Rough & Ready Wildflower Hike. Meet at the parking lot area at Rough & Ready Botanical Wayside, south of Cave Junction on Highway 199 at mile marker 34. The walk through the R&R Wayside is geared for plant enthusiasts and novices alike. This is a great opportunity for folks to come out and enjoy the spring wildflowers no matter what your skill level on plant identification might be.
This is a short hike on rocky, but relatively level ground, with lots of beautiful wildflowers to see, many of them are rare or limited range.
A portion of the hike will be along a wheelchair accessible path so folks of limited mobility can come out and enjoy the wildflowers too.

** The IVFD Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), will hold a FREE six session Basic Disaster CERT class Friday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning April 4 and concluding April 26. There will be no classes over Easter weekend. Training will cover disaster preparedness, medical operations, fire safety, light search and rescue and radio and communications skills. The classes will meet at the IVFD Administration building, 681 Caves Highway in Cave Junction. ** Food Pantry 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Cave Junction Adventist/Community Services Food Distribution, 265 S. Old Stage Rd. Family Coalition from 11:30 – 12:30 for bagged lunches along with Max’s Mission and HIV Alliance for full harm reduction services and then at Jubilee Park at noon – 2 p.m. (or until supplies are gone) -MINT Food pantry, bottled water, wound care supplies, STD prevention materials & HIV testing, Max’s Mission for Narcan, camping gear as available and more. ** Illinois Valley Soil & Water Conservation District will meet the fourth Thursday of the month January through October at 6 p.m. at their office- 331 E Cottage Park Drive suite 1B November and December meetings will be held the third Thursday.

** Illinois Valley Watershed Council will meet on the second Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. at the office at 331 E Cottage park Dr Suite 1B.
** Volunteers Wanted Josephine County Sheriff’s Office is seeking volunteers for the following; Staffing the Merlin and Cave Junction Substations; Patrol including providing vacation home checks, checking parks & boat ramps, locating and tagging abandoned vehicles. And providing court safety.
** Volunteers wanted for Illinois Valley Wellness Resources to assist senior and disabled residents in their home with light duty activities and /or socialization and to drive residents to doctor or grocery store. ** HIV Alliance offers services in Cave Junction every Tuesday from noon – 3 p.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church (across from Shop Smart). Services include: Free and confidential HIV and Hep C testing. Needle Exchange and drop box (all syringes welcome), and overdose response and Naloxone training.
