Obituaries & Celebrations of Life

Lelo Kerivan, 90, died March 12, 2025. A private family ceremony is planned with a memory of life later this year.

Lynette Daisy Owley, 88, 1/18/1937-3/5/2025
Lynette was born to Alvin James and Cora Daisy Killam in Salmon, Idaho. She peacefully died in her sleep in her home in Cave Junction from the complications of a stroke and Alzheimer’s.
She had three brothers and one sister and was the mother of six children and three step-children.
She moved to King County, Washington in the late 1950s where she raised her family. While there she studied the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized as one in 1970. Her next move was as a widow when she moved to O’Brien, Oregon in 2003 to help her sister Cindy care for their recently widowed mother. Her final move was in 2020 to Cave Junction where she shared a home with her daughter Laura.
She loved her God Jehovah, and was very active in the local congregation. She loved the color purple and the beauty of nature, especially hummingbirds, butterflies, wolves, flowers, rocks and seashells. She also loved to travel, having been to Europe, Africa, Australia and Oceania, South America and many places all over North America. Lynette will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Wanda Maxine Collins (Brown), a remarkable woman whose adventurous spirit and unwavering determination left an indelible mark on all who knew her, died Feb. 26, 2025, in Grants Pass, Ore., at the age of 99.
Born Dec. 1, 1925, in Grants Pass, Wanda embodied resilience and tenacity from an early age. She defied expectations and embraced challenges with fearless enthusiasm. At just nine years old, she was driving semi-trucks without power steering down dirt hills—tasks that even grown men hesitated to undertake. Her pioneering spirit extended to the skies as well; she began flying small planes at a young age and accumulated hundreds of hours in the air. Wanda also worked tirelessly in her family’s chrome mine, earning the admiration of her father, who often remarked that she worked as hard as any of the boys.
Wanda’s life was a testament to strength, wisdom and generosity. She possessed an effervescent personality that could light up any room and a whimsical charm that made her unforgettable. Her nurturing nature and artistic soul enriched the lives of those around her, while her sage advice and empathetic heart provided comfort and guidance to many. A true pioneer in every sense of the word, she lived life on her own terms with charisma and grace.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel W. Collins—the love of her life. She is survived by her daughter Julia Grabarz; grandchildren Stacey, Erich and Samantha Grabarz; great-grandchildren Briana, Trevor, Erich, Garrick, Annabella Grabarz, and Alex White; as well as great-great-grandchildren Jenevieve and Killyana O’Brien and Kelleen Grabarz.
A celebration of Wanda’s extraordinary life will be held March 22, 2025, from 1- 4 p.m. at Illinois Valley Evangelical Free Church, located at 498 Laurel Rd., Cave Junction, Oregon, 97534.
Wanda Maxine Collins lived boldly and loved deeply. May her memory continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
