The Illinois Valley Garden Club continued their tradition in 2024 with the collection of children’s gifts for the holidays. These gifts are for distribution to the local children of Cave Junction and surrounding communities. Year after year, the IVGC has tried to surpass the amount of the collection from the previous year. As you can see from the picture, 2024 was another successful year. IVGC is committed to reaching out to the community with more than just locally grown food and is committed to investing in the community by supporting the children of the community. IVGC is pledged to bring smiles to as many children as possible. According to IVGC President Ron Morse “The garden club members grow a summer tomato to bring satisfaction, but seeing the smile on a child’s face at Christmas time brings satisfaction and joy to the heart.”
In addition to the annual toy drive IVGC is also invested in the Illinois Valley High School. A $1,000 scholarship is presented to a senior planning a college degree in horticulture or related field. Scholarship funds are generated from the fall and spring plant sales in Cave Junction.
