Tales from the Rural Patrol

(Editor’s note:
Factual information for ‘Tales’ is provided by the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office. All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.)

Oct. 18
*A woman in the 2200 block of Redwood Highway called the police because two dogs jumped on her, and one bit her. While she didn’t want to press charges, she demanded that the poodle that bit her be euthanized. A deputy explained that they can’t force someone to put down their dog. She said she will testify in court, and has video evidence. Robert Bourland was issued a citation.
*A motorist was warned for speeding and driving while suspended near Foothill Blvd. and Averill Drive.
*A speeding ticket was issued to Mohammed H. Azadmanesh for going 83 in a 60 MPH zone.

No reports were available for 10/19 and 10/20

*Brittney McGuire, 29, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct after showing aggression to employees of the Visitor’s Center in the 300 block of Redwood Highway. She ripped a sign off the wall and threw it across the street, likely breaking a window. McGuire continued throwing objects and punching the door before being trespassed from the property.
*An intoxicated husband was reported by his wife on Gary Lane. She was screaming to 911 operators that he was attacking her, grabbed her leg, and drug her off the bed resulting in injuries to her face. He also took her car keys. James Sharp, 56, was promptly arrested for attempted assault. Not his sharpest decision.
*Megan Gomez went after someone with a taser in the 500 block of N. Old Stage Rd. and got to go to the county jail for menacing and unlawful use of a weapon.
*Two unnamed people were arrested at Caves Hwy. and S. Redwood Hwy. for stealing a car.

Oct. 22
*On Waldo Rd. a man ran away from the vehicle that was pulled over, but Darlin Sanchez, 47, was issued a citation for failure to register her vehicle. Oh, Darlin, that doesn’t seem like a very good friend.
*A deputy observed what seemed to be a vehicle being towed on Hayes Hill, but it was actually someone who just couldn’t wait to get around the guy in front of him. The officer had to reach 100 MPH to catch the tailgater after he was able to pass. When the angry driver “Richard” was pulled over, he stated that the driver in front of him was being unsafe because he was following the 55 MPH speed limit. According to the deputy, Richard was “not happy” about the citation given, but he did not deny that he had a history of speeding and following too close. While we don’t know his full name, he drives a 2013 black Chevy Impala. Don’t be a Richard, give some space on the road.

*A complaint was made because two dogs were barking and the caller was afraid that they might attack. They had seen a dead pig the day before and thought the dogs might have been responsible. The dogs’ owner flagged down a deputy saying he was missing a dog. The missing dog was in the patrol car and was released to their human. The dogs were young pups and seemed very friendly. They were let out to go potty, but didn’t have their perimeter collars on. A citation was issued in the 300 block of N. Valley Drive. All bark and no bite is a good thing sometimes.
*Scott Chitwood, 54, was arrested with no bail on Old Stage Rd. for violating his parole on robbery charges. Someone should have warned him that the Chitwood go down one day.
*In the 100 block of Oxyoke Rd. Mark Fuller, 37, was taken to the JoCo jail for failing to appear on DUII charges after a lady called the cops to report that Fuller had her “belongings.”
*If you don’t have registration, don’t run a stop sign in front of the police. Stephen Myers, 30, was issued a ticket for doing both of those things at Demaray Dr. and Hubbard Lane.
*Margaret Ledlow, 46, was detained in the 200 block of Chinook Park Ln. for FTA for trespassing. Additional charges were given when she gave false information to the boys in blue.

October 24
*A slightly confusing report came from the 800 block of Kincaid Rd. when a woman called authorities to report a man who is constantly calling her and threatening to come to her property. She was scared enough to lock herself in her bedroom with a loaded gun, but was issued a citation and advised on proper dog licensing procedures. Sierra D. Anderson, 34, said that dogs, (hers or his?) may have killed a rooster, but didn’t want to pursue charges. The officer said that they were very friendly dogs.
