James Alan Bonjernoor, “Jimbo” passed into the Light in the early morning of Oct. 10, 2025. Jim was born on June 24, 1952 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Silvia and John Bonjernoor. He was 72. Never feeling at home in any big city, he hitchhiked across the country to ultimately find Cave Junction. Here he found his deep love for nature and honed his skills as a carpenter, vineyard worker, and pirate cannabis grower. He hiked every trail in southern Oregon, picking up trash all along the way, and loved the land, water, trees and wildlife with a passion. Solitary by nature, he often lived in remote locations and harbored dreams of working the Wolverine mining claim he held on Number 8 creek. He could read a map better than anyone, draw precisely and amazingly, and educated himself extensively on the local geology and flora in the decades he spent here. He was loved and he will be missed. He is survived by his daughter Kelsey; grandson Jordan; his partner in life Iris; and sister Ellen. Rest in peace Jim, just you being here made the world better!
