Tales from the Rural Patrol

(Editor’s note: Factual information for ‘Tales’ is provided by the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office. All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.)

Sept. 20
*Deshawn L. Winzer, 37, was arrested in the 1900 block of NE F St. for failure to appear, reckless driving, and assault stemming from a Jackson County warrant. Sometimes you winz…er, sometimes you lose.
*There were two separate animal complaints on Leonard Rd. and Burgundy Ln. They were both cited and warned to keep their furry buddies at home.
*Brian J. Moehring, 45, was arrested on charges of failure to appear for possession of meth and heroin in the 1900 block of NE F St.

Sept. 21
*In the 500 block of Deer Creek Rd., Angela Yost, 23, was taken to the county jail for failing to appear on charges of eluding an officer, a felony, and reckless driving.
*An intoxicated woman pushed another lady on Kira Lane. The person who got shoved called 911 and locked herself in her bedroom. Christina Zamora, 50, (the aggressor) wouldn’t let it go, and started pinching herself on the neck, telling the victim that she would tell officers that she was the victim. Zamora was detained and charged with harassment and trespassing. “The victim mindset will have you dancing with devil, then complaining that you’re in hell.”

Sept. 22
*At Galice Rd. and Crow Rd. a DUII was issued to Joshua Bell, 40.
*Lukas K. Short, 46, was arrested on a Josephine County felony warrant for failure to appear on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on W. Watkins.
*In the 4000 block of New Hope Rd., there was call made to emergency services that their daughter and boyfriend were arguing and it may have gotten physical. Glen Gairson, 48, was arrested near the tent that the couple resides in on the parents’ property for a probation violation pertaining to unlawful possession of methamphetamines.
*An unnamed driver on Rockydale Rd. near the highway was booked into the county jail for having no VIN, (vehicle identification number) no insurance, and, not so surprisingly, an additional meth charge. The vehicle was impounded. Assuming it was stolen, I hope the owners get their car back.
*An interesting case; Modern technology helped out an uninsured driver on Redwood Avenue when she purchased an insurance policy during the traffic stop on her smart phone, or whatever the kids are calling them these days. The driver and passenger swapped seats, but Anatasia Dickson, 21, was cited for driving while suspended, despite the quick thinking.

Sept. 23
*A speeder was cited on Redwood Hwy. next to Kerby Mainline Road.
*At S. Junction Ave. a driver was cited for being uninsured.
*North Valley High School was placed on a secure lockdown after a man doing something suspicious was spotted in the bushes at the Manzanita School. The perpetrator ran from police but got a big jolt of reality when he was taken down by a taser gun. Ryan Jantz, 50, was arrested for disorderly conduct.
*There were signs of forced entry at a home on Rogue River Highway. Several items had been taken, including a Ring camera system and a comic book collection valued at $30,000. Though she produced a lease agreement stating that she was allowed to be at the property, Samantha Fillmore, 29, was arrested for trespassing. An investigation is underway. As it should be. If someone stole MY comics…
*A 25-year-old female was thankfully stable, but drowsy, after taking two bottles of unidentified pills on E. Fork. Rd.
*An un-plated Ford F350 was warned for speeding and cited for driving while suspended and being unregistered in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy.
*At W. Watkins and S. Kerby Ave., another driver was warned for failure to carry registration and cited for failure to renew.
*A person going 70 MPH in a 45 zone was pulled over in the 28000 block of Redwood Highway and left! There was no report of a pursuit, the guy just bailed.

Sept. 24
*An assault charge, as well as an Oregon State Police parole board violation, led to the arrest of Dominic Gilbert Rivera, 60, in the 100 block of N. Junction Avenue. Rivera had followed the man who called 911 home and shoved him. Apparently, this is an ongoing ordeal with Rivera who has threatened the complainant at his workplace and warned him that if he didn’t move, he would kill him.

*An overzealous motorcycle enthusiast got popped with a ticket near the JoCo Fairgrounds going nearly double the speed limit. Lucky guy.

September 25
*No bail was offered to Timothy Rain Davis, 33, after being arrested on violating his parole from a previous robbery charge in the 200 block of W. Watkins St.
*Numerous animal complaints were lodged, (mostly about dogs getting loose) were reported ranging from Lower River Rd. to NW Carol Drive. All owners were advised to contain and properly license their pets or face fees and other actions.
*On S. Junction Ave., John Johann, 57, was cited for driving while suspended, improperly displaying license plates, and having no insurance.
*At Merlin Rd. near Venture Pl., Steven Trujillo, 70, got a ticket for going 88mph in a 55.
*A property owner gave deputies permission to enter anytime to do a welfare check on a female who had been or is about to be trespassed in the 2000 block of W. Jones Creek Rd. Several people were at the premises, and most of them went inside of a rental, which was not part of the “searchable” area, when deputies arrived. One person was playing hide and seek with the police. Who won the game was unclear, but Jacob Dowell, 40, was arrested on failure to appear charges.
*A very distressed person called 911 saying they wanted to be arrested, but wouldn’t say what was upsetting them on Williams Highway. A parole violation for underlying charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, which is a felony from the OSP warrant previously served, may have upset me too. Jennifer Condon, 39, was arrested with no bail.
*Michael Morrison-Fields, 35, shouldn’t have slipped his handcuffs to the front when he was arrested. That’s now disorderly conduct on top of the failure to appear charge. Whatever happened over the text messages to his wife led to this incident in the 300 block of Dexter Way.
*Robert Elling, 42, was taken into custody on Griffin Road because of an outstanding felony warrant from the Yolo County Sherrif’s Office. The previous charges of eluding a police officer, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and parole violation for “underlying” dangerous drugs left Mr. Elling with no bail option. You know what they say? “YOLO!” You only live once.

September 26
*Thomas McCluskey, 42, was taken into custody for a parole violation on Gunnel Road.
*At Saratoga Way and Brett Way, Jesse Bryman, 58, was detained on a previous charge.
*A scary situation occurred in the 2000 block of Riverbanks Rd., leading a woman to call it in. A man had kicked in her bathroom door, but she was able to block the door partially with a stool. When she called authorities, the intoxicated man could be heard yelling in the background that he would “make a play against the cops.” When deputies arrived, they forced a door open and a struggle ensued with the aggressor. The woman was advised to stay barricaded in the bathroom until he was detained. Jacob Teller, 36, was charged with domestic violence, menacing, and interfering with the police.
