Aug. 23
*William Murphy was cited for driving while suspended and warned for improper display of license plates and no insurance in the 200 block of W. Watkins Street.
*Dara Hupka, 42 was cited for going 76 in a 45mph zone on Redwood Highway. Dare I say, Dara, you were lucky it was only a citation.
*An officer saw a blue Mustang accelerate quickly and then drift through an intersection at Grants Pass Parkway and M Street. After following them, he activated his cherry lights, then the Mustang ran through a red light and was observed swerving into oncoming traffic twice. Upon being pulled over, Brice Loghrey, 17, claimed that a spilled drink caused him to slide the vehicle sideways. He then stated, “I don’t why I keep doing it. I have lost control several times.” Maybe a teenager shouldn’t have such a powerful car until they really learn how to drive. Loghrey was cited for careless driving and failure to obey a traffic control device.
Aug. 24
*Michelle Hensley, 29, was cited for driving while suspended, and warned for failure to renew her license in the 1400 block of Lower Wolf Road.
*Solana Costello, 34, was arrested in the 100 block of S. Caves Avenue. She was kicking and spitting and generally being very hostile to authorities, and was flagged for felony assault. The charges include failure to comply with terms of probation, possession of meth, and an original charge of criminal mischief. Subsequently, she was trespassed from the property.
*On Caves Highway and S. Old Stage Road, James Barnes, 60, was taken into custody on charges of dui and reckless driving. He was taken to the sobering center.
Aug. 25
*The driver of a green Subaru Legacy was cited for driving while suspended, and warned for failure to signal, no insurance, and improper display of license plates. She stated she didn’t know she was suspended. Regardless, use your turn signal!
*Three minors were cited when found in possession of alcohol in an unknown place
A 50-year-old driver of a red Honda Pilot on Foothill Blvd. and Ament Dr. was warned for speeding and failure to obey a traffic light.In the 1900 block of Laurel Rd., a caller said that his neighbor and he were involved in a verbal confrontation, but the subject was still armed. The caller was also armed, and threatened to shoot him. He was ordered to go inside and not shoot him, and then hung up. Upon a call back, the complainant stated that he had gone back inside, and nobody on the property wanted to pursue him. James Wilson, 33, was arrested on a Weed, California warrant on charges of failure to appear, a felon in possession of ammunition, false representation, and a “special allegation”, which is a felony. Well, isn’t that special?
*On Laurel Rd. and E. River St., was warned for failure to drive within their lane, and cited for driving while uninsured.
Aug. 26
A driver of a grey Toyota was warned for speeding and cited for driving while suspended. (I wonder if they knew they were suspended.) A licensed driver gained control of the Yoda. Speed not, you will, young Jedi.
A large black Pitbull named Astro got his owner into a little bit of trouble in the 2600 block of Woodland Park. A deputy met with the owner who was cited for having a k9 who was a public nuisance, and a potentially dangerous dog. Astro appeared healthy, and all three of the owner’s dogs were licensed. Quarantine was deemed unnecessary.
*A Ford F350 was found abandoned on the side of S. Hussey Rd. in the 200 block. There were broken windows and trash all around the vehicle and in the truck bed. Anthony Pope, 39, was arrested on a Grants Pass Police Department warrant on charges of identity theft. Pope turned the keys over to another subject at the same location and said the truck would be moved soon.
*The driver of a dump truck and trailer was cited for having an expired CDL and no operator’s license in the 5300 block of Monument Drive. The 71-year-old driver was told not to drive until they got their CDL fixed. They parked the truck and waited for someone with a current CDL to pick it up.
*Timmie Samules, 37, was arrested in the 500 block of NW 6th St. on a GPPD warrant for failure to appear on charges of possession of heroin and tampering with physical evidence.
*A caller in the 100 block of 3rd St. called 911 saying that it sounded like a male was beating up a female. They then heard a female screaming for the male to stop. Dillon Hoyle, 31, was arrested for harassment and domestic violence. It must take a big man to beat up a lady.
Aug. 27
*Absolutely nothing happened today, or at least somebody wasn’t caught doing anything.
Aug. 28
*The driver of an un-plated blue Chevy at New Hope Rd. and Jaynes Dr. was cited for driving while suspended and warned for no plates or registration.
*In the 1700 block of Deer Creek Rd., a caller reported there was a verbal argument on a porch, but a female involved was carrying a bag, and was possibly armed with an AR-15 and a shotgun. She was very hostile, kept walking the exterior of a home, was talking to herself, but eventually stopped trying to force her way into a residence. Carlene Cook, 68, was arrested on a charge of criminal trespass. Her husband was to retrieve her vehicle.
Aug. 29
*A dog appeared to be healthy and was released from quarantine. Sydney E. Demo of S. Vannoy Creek Rd. was cited, but advised that the citation would be redacted if a license for the pooch was obtained.
*A deputy on a different call near Washington Blvd. and NW Midland saw a large older Great Pyrenees mix near the sidewalk and observed a second dog in the driveway. Kerry Rigby stated that just opened the gate and went inside as her baby was napping. Because of prior incidents, Rigby was re-advised that they could be cited in the future or taken to a shelter.
