*There was some sort of animal complaint in the 19000 block of Redwood Hwy. Upon arrival, the dogs were very friendly, and their human, Gonzalo Ochoa, 54, was advised to make sure the pups were current on licensing.
*Matthew Hanscom was unable to rely on his handsome looks and was cited for speeding near New Hope Rd.
*Trask Austin Phelps was brought in on felony warrant charges from Douglas County ranging from drugs, eluding, providing false information to an officer, escape, and resisting arrest. The Oregon State Parole Board also dinged him with a weapons offense. Things were not joyful for Phelps up there on Camp Joy Road.
*In the 11000 block of Galice Rd., a man called to report that after seeing his boss chasing crows out of the area, he then saw him under a truck stealing gasoline. The subject had a friend waiting at the end of Bear Camp Road in a primered rusty old Chevy truck. The caller was confronted by the subject when they noticed that pictures and video were being taken of the crime. The managers of the resort detained the subject, who was charged with theft and criminal mischief. Don’t poke the bear, you might end up in the pokey.
July 27
*Juan Ariza Jr., 38, was popped for possessing more than 20 ounces of marijuana in public in the 3800 block of Lower River Road. The devil’s lettuce was seized by authorities.
*Jesse Orr, 38, was pulled over in his black Mercedez on Redwood Highway at Slate Creek Road for going 109 mph in a 55-mph zone. Whether he was in a rush to get somewhere or just having a little adrenaline rush…either Orr, he was issued a ticket.
*A warrant was served in the 1900 block of NE F St. to Karl Wise, 47, due to failure to appear on Marion County charges of harassment and domestic violence. Some unwise decisions were made by Mr. Wise, leading him straight to jail.
*Kevin Day, 63, was issued a warrant for COC in the 1600 block of Laurel Road and cited and released with an arrest report to follow.
*After driving between lanes at the split on SE 7th and SE I street, Austin McClanahan, 21, attempted to speed away when he saw a police car. A witness saw him going at a high rate of speed, then crash his black Yamaha motorcycle into a car on 4th St. The deputy allowed him to drop his backpack off at the park before transporting him to the Josephine County Jail on charges of driving while suspended, and eluding, which is a felony. His bike was towed by Goodfella’s towing company. Whaddaya gonna do? Fuhgeddaboudit.
*A man was reported to be tasering himself at a local campground. There were four guys in total at the campsite, who were being disorderly, bothering other campers, and building a fire outside of the designated fire pit, though only Terron Buggs, 31, was cited for failure to maintain a fire during fire restrictions. Shockingly, they did not seem intoxicated.
*A blue spray-painted Harley was impounded from Tyler Burrow, 25, at Caves Highway and Laurel Road. Those expired California tags probably didn’t help as he was charged with driving while suspended.
*Andrew Martinez, 25, was cited to appear in court in lieu of arrest for failure to appear for criminal mischief and providing false information to police in connection with a previous citation warrant. He was trespassed from an unnamed park.
July 28
*A man called from the 4000 block of Takilma Road saying that a big buy with a beard broke into his house 5 minutes previously, though he didn’t take anything. Upon confronting the stranger, the suspect walked to a neighbor’s house, who the complainant has had problems with in the past with theft issues and generally being nuisance neighbors. Robert Stephens, 46, was arrested for criminal trespass.
July 29
*A driver at Redwood Highway and Redwood Avenue was cited for speeding.
*Assistance was requested at the animal shelter in the 1400 Brookside Blvd. regarding the release of an animal and citation for a person.
*Waylon Parker, 45, admitted to his crimes after the victim caught him on video. Apparently, Parker was upset when he attempted to confront the reporting person because they were speeding on a shared easement. When the driver didn’t stop, Parker pulled out a gun and aimed it at the complainant’s head. He was arrested at his residence in the 700 block of Placer Rd. for menacing and unlawful use of a weapon.
July 30
*The driver of a silver Nissan was exploring the gorgeous curves of Galice Road, but was cited for speeding. Take it slow, sir, that curvy girl might have been a little more understanding.
*David Banks, 52, was served a warrant in the 5900 block of Riverbanks Road, for failure to appear on charges of theft.
*In the 1900 block of NE F St., Jacob Reeder, 30, was also served a warrant from the Coos Bay Police Department for failure to appear on charges of disorderly conduct.
*A concerned mother of an adult called 911 because her son broke into her house in Redding, California, and is going through “meth psychosis”, and has been ranting about not being able to buy a gun, because he didn’t “meet the criteria.” The mom was concerned, because her son was threatening to harm his ex-girlfriend, who left him 2 months ago and moved out of town. The “ex” would not let him see their baby because he was on drugs. The reporting person was unable to get a hold of the mother of her grandchild. There was a male from Shasta County, who is not related, but known to carry guns, and had a restraining order, (whom the R.O. is against is unclear.) Subsequently, Katie Ellis, 26, needed assistance with her newborn baby, but Ellis had a warrant for criminal mischief. This is crazy! I don’t even know what to say. Everyone involved seemed to be unable to make adult choices.
*Jason Durham, 44, was cited for property damage, offensive littering and criminal mischief after found in a “camp.” There was ammunition found, but no gun. He had a previous warrant for delivering meth. Alan Davis, 40, was also cited on charges of criminal mischief, offensive littering, escape, and interfering with police at 35.7.27.X road, and 35.7.22.X road.
July 31
*Justin Taylor, 36, who has been previously trespassed from the property in the 200 block of W. Watkins St., was again loitering in the bottle drop area. He was taken to the county jail.
*Carly Jensen, 30, who had been trespassed earlier in the day from the 200 block of W. Watkins St., was reported for walking in the beer cooler, then “sprinting” out the door, and ran to Grocery Outlet to attempt to buy beer, but was intercepted by the manager and escorted off the property. She then ran away, but was caught shortly after by a deputy. Jensen is now trespassed from Grocery Outlet for one year, a “flag” was placed on her, (probably not the American flag), and cited for criminal trespass on a probation violation detainer. We all have friends in low places, (see previous post), but we shouldn’t go back to those places with them. Maybe they can catch up in the jailhouse, because that’s where they ended up.
*An animal complaint was filed because a Boxer dog got loose in the 500 block of Crow Road. Then the owner, Megan R. Knitter, 34, became upset and said that she felt targeted by police while the homeless are taking over the parks, and nothing is being done about it. It sounds like someone wanted to box.
*A couple were caught stealing 500 gallons of water from a park in the 300 block of Main Street, then ran away. They were found at a nearby store. Charles Nelson, 43, was found in white Chevy truck, pulling a black Datsun truck bed holding a black water tank with yellow straps. They drained the tank before authorities released the vehicle to his unidentified female friend. Nelson was charged and arrested on a warrant from Douglas County for failure to comply with terms of probation. Hopefully, the JoCo jail system keeps him hydrated so he doesn’t have to steal water again.
*A lady called to report that a dog was left for over an hour in a mini van in the parking lot of Tap Rock in full sunshine with the windows barely cracked in 99-degree weather. The dog was panting and had no water. Animal Control responded after the woman said she was tempted to let the poor dog out herself. Eric S. Miller, 44, was located and advised to leave his canine at home in such temperatures. He left and was warned about animal neglect charges.
*Someone called 911 to say that there was a woman sleeping upstairs at a home that was not hers in the 1700 block of Deer Creek Road. Though not aggressive, the woman was adamant that the recent sale of the house was fake because her dad built it. The caller stated that she came over to help her move some belongings out of the home. Carlene Cook, 68, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and trespassing.
*A brother and sister, distraught over the recent passing of their father, got into it, as siblings sometimes do, but were reported to authorities for fighting in the 100 block of Old Stage Road. They were intoxicated and left each other with minor injuries. Upon arrival, a deputy took Sumitra Danny O’Donnell, 38, into custody for domestic disturbance. Their mother was heading to the jailhouse to bail out the “kid”, and their aunt was going to the park to help pack and move the trailer as the brother and sister were trespassed from the property.
