Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians offers bilingual storytime
Grants Pass, August 5, 2024— Josephine Community Library invites families to a bilingual story time featuring the Takelma language during the Summer Reading Program from 2–3 pm on Friday, August 9 at the Grants Pass branch, 200 NW C Street.
An educational representative from the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians will read from the original Takelma Language Primer children’s book series during this program. The Takelma Language Primer six-part series was written by the Tribe and features themes including animals, places, colors, numbers, plants, and activities. The mission of the Takelma language program is to
unite the Cow Creek Tribal Community & families by making language available to all tribal members in order to strengthen cultural identity.
