The Alyssum Helicopter Survey has been rescheduled for June 27 due to fire in Applegate needing helicopters. A helicopter may be seen flying low over the Valley Thursday,, June 27. This is being used to locate yellowtuft, a toxic weed that was introduced into the Valley during a phyto-mining experiment around 1995. These are Class A noxious weeds and Illinois Valley is the only place in Oregon where they are growing. Oregon Department of Agriculture is working to eradicate the plant before it spreads into other parts of the state.
