On June 21 at 12:53 p.m. there was a grass fire; 6xxx HOLLAND LOOP RD, Cave Junction.
Illinois Valley Fire District, and ODF Southwest Oregon District, originally responded to a reported vegetation fire. Once units arrived on scene, the alarm level was bumped up to a second alarm vegetation fire, and units from Rural Metro Fire – Josephine County, and Grants Pass Fire, along with more IVFD units, responded to assist in the control of the fire.
Fire has been declared out, and crews will remain on scene to mop up the hot spots, of the 19.7 acres. Fire is under investigation.
On July 22 at 07:57 a.m. there was an illegal open burn: 7xxx HOLLAND LOOP RD, Cave Junction. Illinois Valley Fire District, and ODF Southwest Oregon District, responded to an illegal open burn. Small spot found, extinguished and property owners were fined.
Reminder: There is no allowable burning in the Illinois Valley.
