Lorraine Saffer joined her husband Les in heaven May 28, 2024. Born Feb. 25, 1934 to Frank and Isabel Mellow in Holland, Ore. She was the 10th of 12 children. Lorraine lived nearly all her 90 years in the Illinois Valley, raising her family in Selma and was a lifelong parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church in Cave Junction. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lisa and husband Les. She is survived by her sister Liz of Santa Rosa, Calif. and her sons Steve of Grants Pass and Greg of Pagosa Springs, Colo. as well as seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Lorraine was lovingly cared for by Steve and Tamie at their home in Grants Pass for the last few years. Private interment was held at Hillcrest Memorial in Grants Pass.
Robert Lee Warnicke, 90, born in Pleasanton, Kan., died June 2, 2024 in Cave Junction.
His eldest son Larry Warnicke and his Partner Kathy Adams were the sole caregivers, lovingly cared for Robert these past weeks helping him to peacefully reach his journey.
Robert was widowed to Doreen Marylin Meyers.
Robert was a Corporal in the U.S. Army charged with motor pool for the military personnel. Robert’s great-grandfather Andrew Jackson Warnicke was a scout for General Gorge Armstrong Custer. Robert’s father was Glen Elsie Warnicke.
After Robert’s discharge from the U.S. Army, he was a supervisor at Straight Door & Plywood in Southern California.
Robert had a great sense of humor and immense sense of kindness toward his friends. Robert’s surviving family members are his son, Steve Warnicke and partner Bricke and their daughter Lynette; and daughter, Janet D. McGarrah, her husband Robert Peckler and their daughter Crystal Lucas.
