“If you listen carefully to the Lord your God,” the Bible says, “and…if you pay attention to his commands…I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you” (Exodus 15.26).
This is an amazing promise. The Bible has many principles of health which promise benefits if followed:
Eat proper amounts: “…eat at a proper time— for strength and not for drunkenness” (Ecclesiastes 10.17).
Choose the best foods: “…eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare” (Isaiah 55.2).
Balance work and rest: “Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work” (Exodus 20.9).
Stay positive: “A cheerful heart is good medicine” (Proverbs 17.22).
Make mealtime happy: “…every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God (Ecclesiastes 3.13).
Exercise daily: “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food” (Genesis 3.19).
Many who practice these rules enjoy life well into their sunset years. I once did a funeral for a woman who died at 109. She was a devout Bible believer who tried her best to follow all the biblical recommendations.
