May 10 & 12
**Madrone Adventist Elementary School is having a fundraising event on Friday, 5/10/24 and Sunday, 5/12/2024. The school will be having a flower sale, bake sale and Flea market in downtown Cave Junction, in the parking lot at 131 N. Redwood Hwy, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Please come by to see all our goodies and treasures and help support our awesome students at Madrone School. We will have beautiful Mother’s Day bouquets available, arranged by our talented students, for purchase.

**April Showers Bring May Flowers BIPOC Tea Party and Kids Fashion Show, Saturday, May 11 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at I.V. High School Tickets will be available in advance and at the door, $10 for children and $15 for adults. Come enjoy tea sandwiches, scones and tea will be served. **Illinois Valley Amateur Radio Club (IVARC) will be having our monthly meeting @ 6pm at Wild River Pizza in CJ. Come get free two-way radio training, pick up a pre-programmed radio or get free updates on your existing Baofeng radio. We have (3) weekly net check-ins on Mondays @ 7pm, starting on IVARC’S GMRS repeater, followed by unlicensed Simplex FRS 3 and MURS 3. New members are welcome and encouraged to join our net and attend our meetings. **May is Wildfire Preparedness Month. Do you know what to do and where to go the next time a wildfire happens? Join fire ecologists and wildfire professionals on Sunday, May 19th at 2pm at the Dome School in Takilma to discover the ways our community can become more Firewise. A film-screening of “ELEMENTAL- Reimagine Wildfire” will kick-off this event sponsored by the Takilma Community Association, IVFROG and the Firebrand Resiliency Collective. Admission is free.

**Spiral Living Center presents our 18th Anniversary Celebration June Skillshare Saturday June 8.
Classes start at 1 p.m. Dinner & Dancing start at 6 p.m.

ONGOING
** Illinois Valley Soil & Water Conservation District will meet the fourth Thursday of the month January through October at 6 p.m. at their office- 331 E Cottage Park Drive suite 1B November and December meetings will be held the third Thursday.
** Illinois Valley Watershed Council will meet on the second Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. at the office at 331 E Cottage park Dr Suite 1B.
** Volunteers Wanted Josephine County Sheriff’s Office is seeking volunteers for the following; Staffing the Merlin and Cave Junction Substations; Patrol including providing vacation home checks, checking parks & boat ramps, locating and tagging abandoned vehicles. And providing court safety.
** Volunteers wanted for Illinois Valley Wellness Resources to assist senior and disabled residents in their home with light duty activities and /or socialization and to drive residents to doctor or grocery store. ** HIV Alliance offers services in Cave Junction every Tuesday from noon – 3 p.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church (across from Shop Smart). Services include: Free and confidential HIV and Hep C testing. Needle Exchange and drop box (all syringes welcome), and overdose response and Naloxone training.
