Three Rivers School District Awarded $2.5 Million Grant for Seismic Upgrade of Evergreen Elementary

Three Rivers School District is excited to announce that it has received a $2.5 million grant from Oregon’s Seismic Rehabilitation Grant Program (SRGP). This grant will support the comprehensive seismic upgrade of Evergreen Elementary’s gymnasium and cafeteria, including the installation of new roofing. Dave Valenzuela, Superintendent of Three Rivers School District, expressed gratitude, stating, “We are dedicated to actively seeking grants to address our financial challenges and are mindful of our community’s limited resources.”

The SRGP is a competitive grant program in Oregon that funds the seismic rehabilitation of critical public buildings, with a focus on schools and emergency services facilities.

Fleming Middle School also recently benefited from an SRGP grant. Approximately 12,000 square feet, including the gymnasium, administration building, cafeteria, and library, underwent a comprehensive seismic upgrade.

“This grant represents a significant milestone for Three Rivers School District and underscores our commitment to safety,” remarked Valenzuela. “While it covers only part of the necessary re-roofing at Evergreen Elementary and across the district, it signifies a major investment in the resilience of our school facilities.”

The seismic upgrade project at Evergreen Elementary is slated to kick off this summer and wrap up before the commencement of the 2024-2025 school year.
