The weather didn’t disappoint on Easter Sunday at the Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt event held at Jubilee Park March 31.
On the beautiful sunny day children could be found smiling as they ran to find colorful eggs in the grass. According to Lions Club President Rick Morgan, “Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We (members) worked hard boiling and dying eggs on Saturday, preparing in excess of 2,000 eggs.”
Morgan wanted to extend a “huge thank you” to the community for all the egg donations, supplying two-thirds of the eggs and the rest were donated by the local Grocery Outlet.
Illinois Valley Fire District firefighters were there with their equipment and The Lion and Bunny made their rounds giving out hugs and high-fives to all the children, and adults too.
And of course, Monique Allen from IV YEA! was present to help give gifts and prizes out to the children. “We gave out a total of 161 baskets and had toys and candy in the field for the little ones as well. It was a great turn out and I saw a lot of smiling people,” said Allen.
