Janis Kay Herman, of Cave Junction, died surrounded by her loved ones Nov. 13, 2023. She is survived by her seven children, Kimberly Fujita, Lotus Mattison, Ami Moydell, Cindi Snelson, Lila Holm, Jacob Herman and Tita Martin; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and her brother Jim Frazee.
She was born Janis Kay Frazee in Pensacola, Fla. Dec. 14, 1944 to Robert and Lois Sparks Frazee. Janis was the drill team captain in school and attended Texas Tech, where she competed nationally with the Texas Tech Rodeo before moving to New York where she married and started her family. Over the years she continued to grow her family to seven children while living in New York, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Alaska before settling permanently in Cave Junction. Janis loved her dogs and cats, sewing, shopping, horses and working in her beautiful garden, but above all else she loved spending time with her family.
Anyone who knows Janis knows that she is beyond brave and adventurous, generous with her time and love, she is full of faith and would literally give you the shirt off her back, the rings off her fingers, and the food off of her plate. We, her family, are so grateful for all the time we had with her, the memories we’ve made, and the joy we experienced together while we are beyond devastated to have to say goodbye.
A Celebration of Life will be held on her birthday, Dec. 14, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Vista 222, 222 Missouri Flat Road, Grants Pass, OR 97527.
“In her dreams, she rides wild horses
And they carry her away on the wind
And they never make a sound
As they fly above the ground
Tonight, she rides wild horses, again”

Richard Allan Young, 80, of Cave Junction, died Nov. 16, 2023 at his home. Arrangements with Illinois Valley Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Dale Christine Robinson, 73, of Cave Junction, went to heaven Nov.18. She is the beloved sister of Kathryn Merrill of Grants Pass.
She is now dancing in Heaven with the love of her life, Paul Robinson, her husband who preceeded her. They both had asked Jesus Christ to forgive all their sins and therefore entered into Heaven when they left their life here. John 3:16.
