Local radio DJ Robert Hirning was featured in the “New in Audioport” section of the Oct. 17 newsletter for Pacifica Network, a broadcasting network for grass-roots, community-based radio stations.
Hirning was approved for syndication recently and had this to say, “I have been mesmerized by bluegrass music ever since my teenage years, lying in bed with a portable radio pressed to my ear. Those country DJs always fascinated me with their southern drawls and vast knowledge of country music. Occasionally, a bluegrass cut would come on and I always wanted more. Six years ago, my dream was fulfilled when I became a DJ at KXCJ radio with my very own bluegrass show.” You can catch “Smokin’ Bluegrass” Thursdays from 6-9 p.m.
