PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICE OF VACANCY IN ELECTIVE COUNTY OFFICE

Josephine County is accepting applications for the job of County Assessor ($71,385.60/year plus benefits). The successful applicant will be appointed to serve until the person elected at the next general election takes office. Per state law (ORS 236.210, 204.016), the minimum qualifications are:
• Citizen of the United States;
• Elector (registered voter) under the Oregon Constitution (Article II § 2);
• Resident of Josephine County for a period of one year preceding the next election, which will occur on May 21, 2024;
• Qualified as a registered appraiser, or is an appraiser trainee under ORS 308.015 and if an appraiser trainee, notwithstanding ORS 308.015, becomes a registered appraiser within two years after taking office; and
• Two years of office and accounting experience, including experience in office management activities, or two years of full-time employment in the office of a County Assessor.
The Oregon Department of Revenue (DOR) will prepare applications and questionnaires and obtain information it may deem necessary to determine that a candidate for the office of County Assessor has met the requirements of Oregon law, and shall furnish to applicants suitable certificates evidencing satisfactory compliance with the required qualifications. To avoid delay in the hiring process, Josephine County will consider applications from candidates who have applied for DOR certification and are awaiting confirmation from the state.
Cover letter, resume, and DOR certification/application must be submitted to the Human Resources Department, Josephine County Courthouse, 500 NW 6th St., Grants Pass, OR. The application deadline is October 18, 2023. The Board of Josephine County Commissioners will select the successful applicant.
