SUBJECT: The JOSEPHINE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS has entered an Order declaring its intention to initiate formation of a county road service district organized under ORS Chapter 451 and will conduct the second of two public hearings to solicit comments on the proposal for formation.
PURPOSE OF PROPOSED DISTRICT: To provide road maintenance and improvement services for county roads, as defined in ORS Chapter 368, in Josephine County, including all territory within the incorporated cities of Grants Pass and Cave Junction.
NAME OF PROPOSED DISTRICT: JOSEPHINE COUNTY ROAD SERVICE DISTRICT.
JURISDICTION AND LEGAL AUTHORITY: Board Order No. 2023-053, dated July 19, 2023; ORS 198.835; ORS Chapter 451.

Draft Environmental Assessment Available
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Josephine County announce the availability of a Draft Environmental Assessment (Draft EA) for a proposed runway extension at the Grants Pass Airport in Grants Pass, Oregon, for public review and comment. The Draft EA examines the potential environmental impacts of extending Runway 13-31 700 feet.
The Draft EA will be available for public review and comment beginning on August 25, 2023. Copies of the Draft EA may be viewed during regular business hours at the following location:

Public Comment Period
Public comment on the Draft EA is invited for a 30-day period extending from August 25, 2023, through September 23, 2023. The purpose of the Public Comment period is to allow comments on the adequacy of the Draft EA for the proposed project.
A Public Open House is planned for September 5, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. at the Airport Administration Office’s conference room, at the address listed above. The Open House will provide the public an opportunity to discuss the proposed project with representatives of the County.
