Rotary Club of Illinois Valley (RCIV) will hold its quarterly Adopt-a-Highway road cleanup Saturday, Aug. 5. Club members and volunteers will meet at Illinois Valley Golf Club, starting at 8:45 a.m. Latex gloves, bags, safety vests, and trash grabbers are provided.
RCIV partners with Oregon Dept. of Transportation (ODOT) to clean trash from a section of Hwy. 199 stretching from near Kerby to the south end of Cave Junction. Rotarians and volunteers usually work for close to two hours, netting dozens of bags of debris from the roadside. ODOT’s crews then retrieve the bright yellow bags for disposal.
Volunteers are welcome to join in. Participants must be at least 16 years of age to work on the state highway. For more information, message Rotary Club of Illinois Valley through Facebook: facebook.com/IllinoisValleyRotaryClub.
