Cougars have mixed results on diamond

The Illinois Valley High School girls softball team has had an incredibly strong start to their season, and their game against the Bonanza Antlers April 18 was no different, as the Lady Cougars dominated the home field once again.
The home team’s strength was obvious from the moment they stepped onto the field, with the first inning ending 5-0 in favor of the Lady Cougars. Though the Antlers did what they could to combat the Cougars’ might, all of their attempts fell short. Over the course of the next several innings, the home team continued to send their players across the bases in rapid succession.
Eventually, the Antlers managed to get two points, but this only served to increase the Lady Cougars’ determination. By the end of the game, the score was 12-2, an I.V. victory.
***The IVHS boys baseball team did not fare as well during their home game against Bonanza on the same day. Though the Cougars played hard, with the game even going into extra innings, the Antlers pushed their way to victory 5-4.
