A Destination Ready program is scheduled for the Illinois Valley! Let your visions for downtown Cave Junction be heard Tuesday, April 25 at Wild River Brewing and Pizza.
The Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Travel Oregon, Main Street Cave Junction and a local steering committee will offer an evening event and studio workshop building from the 2022 Destination Ready program for the greater Illinois Valley area. This free program is designed to identify opportunities and develop strategies that enhance and strengthen the economic vibrancy of a downtown while preserving rural character and enhancing livability.
“Main Street Cave Junction formed in 2021 with local downtown business owners, community members, and city officials. We have made connections through our participation in community events such the volunteer fair where 35 local nonprofits were brought together. We are very excited to be involved with the Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce and we are planning the 75th birthday celebration of Cave Junction this summer,” said Amy Lusson, president of Main Street Cave Junction. “We all have the common goal of creating a thriving downtown and sparking enthusiasm for supporting our local economy.”
Anyone interested in contributing to the vision and vitality of the downtown area can attend. This includes local leaders, public officials, tourism organizations, land managers, regulatory agencies, economic development organizations, main street businesses, restaurants, lodging property owners, and more. All community members who are interested in improving the local economy and downtown experience are invited to participate.
The free “Community Input” event will be held Tuesday, April 25 at Wild River Brewing and Pizza in Cave Junction from 6 to 8 p.m. with pizza and beverages provided. Next, a Downtown Development Workshop will be held the following day Wednesday, April 26 at the Kerby Belt Building in the Southern Oregon Guild Art Gallery in Kerby from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and breakfast and lunch will be provided. Both events are free of charge; however, registration is required. Contact IVCC Executive Director Megan Pugh at 541-592-3326 for more information.
