The Rotary Club of Grants Pass will again host the annual Rotary Invitational Track Meet, scheduled for May 6, 2023, at Grants Pass High School. This meet is a lead up to the district and state championship meets. This will mark the 73rd year the club has hosted this meet. The club works jointly with the Grants Pass High School Athletic Department in running the all-day event at the school’s track. The competition starts at 10 a.m.
Roughly 300 athletes from at least 28 Oregon and northern California schools will compete.
The 73rd Rotary holds the distinction from other Meets in the State because it’s the final and last true “Invitational” Meet.” The competition is relegated to the top 16 or so athletes/entries in each event. This creates a very competitive atmosphere and some of the best performances in the State of Oregon.
Rotarians Tim Quinlan and Marty Bauer will co-chair the 2023 event. For more information, visit the club’s WEB site (grantspassrotary.org) or call Tim Quinlan (714-655-8435) or Marty Bauer (541-476-5305), or email Grants Pass High School head track coach Jenner Yriarte (JYRIARTE@grantspass.k12.org.us).
Individuals and Organizations wishing to sponsor the event should contact the event coordinator, Debbie Thomas; 541-218-5858 or email class1@thedailycourier.com. All entrance fees go to Grants Pass High School Athletic Fund.
