Tales from the Rural Patrol

Sunday, Feb. 26
*A citizen complained of intoxicated drivers in a parking lot in the 200 block of N. Redwood Hwy. at 3:30 a.m. He could tell they were drunk by the loud belligerent way they were talking. One dipsomaniac threw a beer can out of either a small white pickup truck or a larger blue Ford truck.

Monday, Feb. 27
*Residents in the 900 block of Airport Drive heard intruders who stole their gray Nissan pickup truck at 3:45 a.m. Other missing items include a DuroMax generator, propane tank, Milwaukee string trimmer, Stanley pressure washer, and electric clippers for animal grooming. A report was filed for unauthorized use of vehicle (UUV), first-degree burglary, and second-degree theft.
*The vehicle identification number (VIN) was fake on a stolen Mercedes SUV that was sold Feb. 21, 2022. National Insurance Crime Bureau wanted a deputy to try to locate the vehicle near the 600 block of Deer Creek Road at 8:50 a.m. A tall metal fence blocked the view.

Tuesday, Feb. 28
*An individual was provided with a case number and contact information to clear up an identity theft situation in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 3:15 p.m.
*Numerous callers reported explosions from inside a trailer in the 100 block of N. Old Stage Road at 6:10 p.m.

Wednesday, March 1
*On Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. a large muscular dog injured two sheep near the 100 block of Norman Road.
*Sounds of gunshots and yelling near Three Mill Road ended with the arrest of Matthew Albert Rosenberry at 1:15 p.m. Rosenberry had a statewide felony warrant for parole violation (PV), and he was charged with felon in possession of a firearm, so he was detained in Josephine County Jail (JCJ).

Thursday, March 2
*A stolen Stihl chainsaw was recovered by Dave’s Outdoor Power Equipment in the 200 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 1:36 p.m.
*A not-so-clever guy in an older blue Smart car was seen stealing mail near the 7100 block of Takilma Road at 2 p.m.
*Tools were stolen from a vehicle in Waldport, but a tracking device in a Milwaukee hammer drill pinged in the 500 block of O’Brien Road at 6:31 p.m.

Friday, March 3
*Jakub Charles Carter was arrested in the 100 block of S. Hussey Avenue at 12:23 p.m. Carter was detained in JCJ for a felony warrant from Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) for PV for possession of cannabinoid extract.
*Brian Ellington had a warrant from Oregon Parole Board for PV on an original charge of burglary. Ellington was taken into custody near Rockydale Road and Pine Cone Drive at 3:39 p.m., then detained in JCJ.
*Helpful neighbors blocked thieves who tried to steal a white Dodge dually truck from the 1400 block of Arrowhead Drive at 3:45 p.m.
*Tenants in the 33000 block of Redwood Hwy. found their trailer was moved and their belongings and property had been bulldozed at 6:20 p.m.
*At 8:55 p.m. a vacant white building in the 33000 block of Redwood Hwy. was ablaze.

Saturday, March 4
*A guy applied the five-finger discount to gloves that he stole from Illinois Valley Building Supply Feb. 27. There are videos and photos of this kleptomaniac’s antics stemming back to April 2022.
*For years a gal stored her 1985 blue/gray Chevy Silverado truck and camper near the 1400 block of Reeves Creek Road on property owned by her daughter’s boyfriend’s family. At 5:26 p.m. she reported that her truck was gone, and there was no suspect information.
