Tales from the Rural Patrol

Sunday, Jan. 29
*Loud music rattled windows in a house in the 600 block of Glendon Road at 2:30 a.m.
*A scraggly-haired fellow startled a woman when he appeared at her door at Siskiyou Village Apartments at 4:11 a.m.

Monday, Jan. 30
*At 9:26 a.m. a gal in the 33100 block of Redwood Hwy. phoned 911 and claimed that she was never contacted regarding her reports of assaults and failure to leave name at scene of accident (FLNSA). Research showed she had a restricted warrant from Del Norte County, California for drug violations, and another from Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) for failure to appear (FTA) for second-degree trespass. Tammy Hoppe was contacted at 10:49 a.m. and cited to appear March 2 at 9 a.m. at Josephine County Circuit Court (JCCC).
*A dunce stole two NAPA batteries and unleaded fuel from two vehicles at First Student shop in the 500 block of W. River Street at 12:18 p.m.
*Registration tags were removed from a vehicle in the 800 block of Caves Hwy. at 1:01 p.m. The owner suspected a certain individual because, as he put it, “That’s how she rolls.”

Tuesday, Jan. 31
*At 12:20 p.m. there was a report of a 2012 Kia that was stolen after it broke down near Waldo Road Jan. 6. However, proof of ownership was required for unauthorized use of vehicle (UUV).
*Alert neighbors tried to inform folks that there was a broken pipe at their residence in the 600 block of Garner Road at 2:25 p.m. No contact information was available.
*At 4:37 p.m. an individual claimed that a Contico TuffBin toolbox containing cat food was taken from a truck in the 1900 block of Caves Hwy. Jan. 13.
*Tempers flared after a blanket was lit on fire near West Side Road at 6:20 p.m.
*Oregon State Police Arson Investigator and State Fire Marshal were notified of the fire that destroyed the former Radio Shack building in the 100 block of N. Redwood Hwy. at 7:35 p.m. (That’s why we can’t have nice things!)

Wednesday, Feb. 1
*Law enforcement pursued a silver-colored Honda near the 1500 block of Lone Mountain Road at 2:33 p.m. Aspin Rose Branch had felony warrants from both Curry County and JCSO for probation violation for UUV, so she was detained in Josephine County Jail (JCJ).

Thursday, Feb. 2
*On Feb. 1, a yellow and black 2011 Skid Steer Caterpillar was swiped from behind a locked gate at a work site near milepost (MP) 38 of Hwy. 199. A report was filed for UUV and trespass at 8:59 a.m.
*A restraining order was dismissed Jan. 23, so a guy returned to the 2000 block of Caves Hwy. and ripped down security cameras at 7:41 p.m. A report was filed for criminal mischief, trespass and attempted burglary.
*A dark-colored pickup truck with a punched ignition was recovered near Redwood Hwy. and Rockydale Road at 9:06 p.m. The driver claimed he purchased the vehicle several months ago, and he provided a phone number for the seller. He was cited to appear in JCCC March 9 for UUV, then he was released.

Friday, Feb. 3
*Thieves broke an office window and took a laptop, cell phone and food from Bridgeview Community Church at 7:22 a.m. A report was filed for second-degree burglary, first-degree theft and second-degree criminal mischief.
*At 2:24 p.m. a property owner in the 300 block of E. Cottage Park Drive decided that he was tired of dealing with the ongoing issue of transients parking and camping, so he wanted law enforcement to be involved.
*David Lesley Ingram had a misdemeanor warrant from Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for FTA for probation violation for third-degree theft. Ingram was contacted at 11:28 p.m. in the 100 block of N. Old Stage Road, then cited and released to appear at Jackson County Circuit Court Feb. 21.
*A fellow in a black Nissan was arrested at gun point near N. Hussey Avenue and Millie Street at 11:42 p.m. He was detained in JCJ for felony elude.

Saturday, Feb. 4
*Maria Martinez had a warrant from Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for FTA for reckless endangering another person and second-degree disorderly conduct. Martinez was detained in JCJ following her arrest at 8:39 a.m. in the 1700 block of White School House Road.
*A woman was screaming and shrieking a name at 3:48 p.m. near the 3900 block of Caves Hwy. April Stevens was taken into custody at 5:16 p.m. and detained in JCJ for FTA for second-degree theft.
