New Guild Members Brian Davis, Kiana Stiles, and more will be making short presentations about their artwork included in the show that is related to our theme! **GIRLS ROCK! A fun filed day of events for girls ages 9-13, with a parent or another adult, participate in activities that foster communication and explore the fields of science, engineering, math, and technology. Workshops include a variety of choices that demonstrate how STEM is used in everyday life. The girls build, take apart, put together and test their handiwork while learning in a fun, non-judgmental setting. Workshops this year include Designing Your Dream Bedroom, Construct a Whitewater Raft, Computer Programming, Microbots, Scienceworks, Worms in Soil Science and Where do Pearls Come From. The event is free and includes a light breakfast and sack lunch. Sponsored by Zonta Club of Grants Pass, AAUW Grants Pass, and Soroptimist International of River Valley.

Compassionate Presence Project – Folks residing in Illinois Valley will have the opportunity to participate in a pilot project that offers support to older adults (60+) and adults with physical disabilities, living with life-limiting illness and who are experiencing loneliness and other emotional distress. This project will train community members as “companions,” providing respite and support. If successful, this will be replicated and offered for free throughout the state of Oregon. If you are interested in learning how to support your community at end-of-life and how to be a compassionate presence to others, please consider volunteering. The training will happen Feb 2.
