Tales from the Rural Patrol

Sunday, Aug. 28
*A guy in the 2000 block of Lone Mountain Road has amazing auditory perception. At 12:20 a.m. he was in a loft, with music playing and noise from a fan, but he heard someone waving a lighter in front of his house.
*A motorist had vehicle problems with a 2002 Black Forest River fifth wheel near milepost (MP) 36 of Hwy. 199. When he returned at 3:17 a.m., the trailer was missing.

*A thin, middle-aged gal in a red hoodie was yelling homophobic slurs and telling people to die at 12:06 p.m. near Chevron Cave Junction.

Monday, Aug. 29
*A house exploded in the 700 block of Bear Creek Road at 10:36 a.m.
*More than 30 cats lived at a woman’s home in the 17200 block of Redwood Hwy. as of 3:57 p.m. She claimed she tried to get a few fixed, but they just keep having litters. She was provided with resources for assistance.

Tuesday, Aug. 30
*A sneak hid in the bathroom of Golden Eagle Restaurant at Junction Inn after midnight Aug. 28. When the dishwasher was distracted, he stole three bottles of ‘booze’ and $200 from the cash register, then slithered away. Pending charges include second-degree burglary, second-degree theft, and criminal trespass.

*There was a disturbance involving an individual with a Samurai sword in the 27100 block of Redwood Hwy. at 8:03 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 31
*At 6:20 a.m. a skinny guy in plaid pajama pants jumped a fence, urinated, then left his belongings near a residence in the 300 block of Stevenson Street.
*There was a disturbance in the 100 block of N. Old Stage Road at 9:17 a.m. Crystal Lucas was detained in Josephine County Jail (JCJ) on charges of second-degree trespass, reckless driving, recklessly endangering, unlawful use of weapon, felony elude, interfering with peace officer and resisting arrest.

Thursday, Sept. 1
*A chronic shoplifter is on probation and has been trespassed from Shop Smart for years, but he was caught in the act at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28 and 10 a.m. Sept. 1.
*A backpack left in the 300 block of Stevenson Street by a creepy intruder contained zip ties, knives, and masks at 1:11 p.m.
*A thief needs to fix a typo on his ‘Steelers’ backpack. A photo was taken of the guy who pilfered Powerade at CJ 76 Gas Station Car Wash at 4:42 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 2
*Felines have taken over in the 3000 block of Crooks Creek Road at 9:17 a.m. A woman had four cats before COVID, but they multiplied, and the kind soul can no longer afford $700 a month to feed 50-60 animals. Contact information for JoCo Spay & Neuter Fund was provided.
*A guy found and recovered his stolen trailer from a vacant lot near the 33100 block of Redwood Hwy. at 4:38 p.m.
*Dean Alan Loyd was detained in JCJ following an incident in the 200 block of Dogwood Lane at 4:51 p.m. Loyd was charged with fourth-degree assault domestic violence and contempt of court.

*A gutsy gal didn’t like the looks of a fellow near the Cave Junction branch of United States Post Office at 7:18 p.m. She stated that if a deputy didn’t arrive soon, she would detain the suspicious character, and if he got sideways, she was going to shoot him.

Saturday, Sept. 3
*At 1:11 p.m. a daughter reported that her mother had been missing from the 100 block of N. Boundary Avenue for four days. The woman is described as 5’1”, 100, with long curly brownish-red hair.
*Dispatchers heard breaking glass, a physical disturbance, and a woman screamed that she was being attacked at 7:29 p.m. A vehicle left the 5700 block of Rockydale Road minutes before law enforcement arrived, but there was no one found at the location.
*Nathaniel Wagner was detained in JCJ following his arrest near Speedy Mart at 9:26 p.m. Wagner had a misdemeanor warrant from JCSO for failure to appear (FTA) for possession of controlled substance (PCS) meth and heroin.
*Joseph Ainsworth was taken into custody near W. Watkins Street and S. Hussey Avenue at 9:52 p.m. Ainsworth was detained in JCJ on a felony warrant from JCSO for FTA for first-degree arson.
