Siskiyou Community to give free sports physicals

Grants Pass, OR – National Health Center Week 2022 will be celebrated in person and virtually this year from August 7 – August 13. This national campaign highlights the work community health centers have done while working on the front lines of COVID-19 to keep our communities healthy and safe. Community health centers provide essential primary care services to nearly 29 million people each year and reach geographically isolated and vulnerable communities.
Many events across the country will take place during National Health Center Week.
Siskiyou Community Health Center (SCHC) is partnering with area high schools and hosting sports physical clinics for kids that require them to participate in school athletics programs. These sports physical clinics are open to both middle school and high school students, and the cost is $10.00. Proceeds will be donated back to the respective host schools’ athletics programs.
The sports physical clinics will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Illinois Valley High School
Siskiyou Community Health Center provides preventive and primary care medical and dental services in Josephine County. SCHC’s providers look beyond medical
charts to address the factors that may cause poor health, such as poverty, homelessness, substance use, mental illness, lack of nutrition, and unemployment.
SCHC has pivoted to serve the community through telehealth, drive-through COVID-19 testing, and COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters.
Stable funding for community health centers will ensure they continue to close the patient access gap for medically vulnerable communities. “I am grateful to Senator Jeff Merkley and Senator Ron Wyden for their continued leadership in backing legislation that supports community health centers,” said Richard Booth, Chief Executive Officer at Siskiyou Community Health Center.
