Request for proposals issued for Illinois Valley Library renovation

Grants Pass, July 28, 2022 —The City of Cave Junction, in partnership with Josephine Community Library, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for architecture and engineering services for the renovation of the Illinois Valley Library located at 209 W. Palmer Street in Cave Junction.

Qualified firms are invited to review the RFP document, posted at cavejunctionoregon.us. Proposals should be hand-delivered to Cave Junction City Hall, 222 W. Lister Street in Cave Junction by the deadline of 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9. The proposal opening will take place at that time.

The renovation will include 1,515-square-foot expansion for a new community meeting space with a teaching kitchen and an early learning center with a maker space. It will also include an outdoor learning area set up for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) programs. The renovation will also address safety and maintenance issues in the building.

The Illinois Valley Library is one of the four branches of Josephine Community Library District. Its renovation is being funded by community contributions, a Carpenter Foundation grant, a Community Development Block Grant, and an ARPA grant from the Oregon State Legislature via Rep. Lily Morgan. The selected firm will detail the renovation’s design and obtain permits. Then the project will go to bid for construction, expected to take place in spring and summer of 2023.
