Tee Tattler

by Terry Taylor

Hello from the golf course at the Illinois Valley Country Club.
In this week’s action for Men’s Twilight just about everyone showed up finally! KPs were won by Dave Scott who got closer than newcomer Graham Osburn, and third shot KP on 9 was won by Jim Losey. Long drive on #7 from the championship teebox was won by Troy. Long drive on #3 was won by John Sloan. John also got KP on #4 for a nice payday for John this week.
Standings, top ten again this week as there is a little more news than normal:
Taylor’s Sausage1 and Taylor’s Sausage2/Valley Fabrication tie for 1st
Kerby Electric
Jerry’s Towing
Robbins Brothers
Selma Second Hand
FLA
John L Scott Realty
KALA Seafood
Bud Bros
Kids league had about 30 show up and have a great time in this unseasonably cool weather. The kids are now venturing out onto the course and hitting shots into the greens. Just a few weeks until their little mini tournament.
Ladies had nine show up on a breezy evening and they had a nice time. I could hear some noise from a couple birdies, some pars and they even celebrated the bogies.
Throughout the week we had been getting the course looking tip top for the 32nd annual IVHS alumni tournament. We had many volunteers help out and made the course tournament ready. We set up two new “wedding tents” and had a band play in them with dancing until 10. We had 75 golfers and raised $1,500 for the scholarship fund and a bit of money for continuing improvement of the course as well. Winners were: Roger and Fred Hults and Chaise Robbins with 1st gross of 11 under par (and 3rd net score); dark horses Mark and Tanner Cooke and Tom with 2nd gross and 2nd net with a 10 under; Troy and D’Lynn Roach and Todd Johan tied for 2nd gross and at 4th net and surprise team Sean and Trey Hendrix and Ryan Main at 1st net with a 55 and 4th gross. Roger DeMaui won the Splash for Cash and Colby Nichols was runner up. Buddy and Laura made a nice dinner for everyone of ribeye steak, baked potato and a nice red white and blue(berry) cobbler.
Next event—July 9, Glowball, first 9 holes starts at 6, then dinner then back nine in the dark.
July 16 is the Joel Dierkes Horserace and Scramble
